How it all started
We first saw Zand’s reversible skirts in a small shop in Spain and were so inspired we had set up our own shop, as we knew women (and men!) in the UK would love them! We had never come across an item of clothing so versatile, original, and cleverly designed. After meeting Yanif, the designer and the fact that the skirts were fairly traded clinched the deal and Fair and Funky Skirts was founded in 2010 by friends Kate and Katie.
After years of fantastic work, Katie left Fair and Funky Skirts in late 2013 to peruse other interests and now the business is run by Kate and a small team of friends. (Thanks and much love to Katie!).
Where we’re heading…
We’re now grown and expanded to include more products that fall into our Fair and Funky Criteria! Ethics are very important to us and all the unique products we stock have to fall into one or more of the following categories-
- Fairly Traded/Fair Trade
- For charity
- Environmentally friendly
In a nutshell we are committed to developing Fair and Funky Skirts in a way which is true to our principals. We want to provide funky, unique clothes and accessories in a way which respects and pays attention to the processes involved in the production and trading of these beautiful products. We are always keen to hear from any designers which offer something unique, funky and ethical.
In the office and at events we use organic/recycled/biodegradable products wherever possible. We also take note of our carbon footprint and have this offset by having trees planted through tree planting charities.
